Central Electric Cooperative and Woonsocket High School are pleased to recognize Kali Hofer, daughter of Jamie and Amy Hofer, as the Touchstone Energy® Scholar of the Week for March 1-7, 2026. The Scholar of the Week program is a partnership between Dakota News Now Television, Central Electric Cooperative and other local Touchstone Energy Cooperatives that honors accomplished high school students.
Hofer has been involved with numerous school activities, including the Student Council, FFA, Academic Festival and the National Honors Society. She has also participated in basketball, volleyball and track, and she has volunteered as a football statistician and junior high volleyball referee. Hofer has also spent time volunteering at a local daycare and volunteering at the concession stand.
Hofer has been recognized with multiple awards during her high school career, including the Volleyball Leadership Award, JV Volleyball Team MVP, Basketball Hustler Award, JV Basketball Team MVP, Varsity Coaches Award for Dedication/Hardwork and Student of the Month. After high school, Hofer plans to study Business Management at Mitchell Technical College.
"The Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week recognizes outstanding seniors. Kali is very involved with her community and athletics, and she still maintains the highest level of achievement in our school with a 4.0 GPA," said Woonsocket High School Superintendent Rod Weber.
Central Electric Manager of Communications Tara Miller said, “Kali demonstrates strong character and commitment to her studies. Her academic accomplishments and community involvement make her a deserving Scholar of the Week.”
Hofer receives a $250 scholarship from Central Electric for this honor. She will be featured on Dakota News Now on Monday, March 2. After the story airs, you can view it online at www.dakotanewsnow.com by searching Scholar of the Week.
